Mobil 1 FS 0W-40 Shell Helix Ultra 0W-40/5W-40 Can't go wrong with either. Shell Helix Ultra ECT 0W-30 is a rather nice oil for cold climates, MRV @ -40 only 18900cP and 204VI.

The Mann-filters I have for the Toyotas and the Renault OEM filter (Purflux) both have a white silicone ADBV. Haven't come across a black silicone ADBV.

15000km (9300m) has been the Toyota OCI in europe for ages. Dealerships used Mobil 1 0w--40 and Shell helix ultra 5w-40 and there have been no oil related problems. Today Toyota has the highest maintenance costs due to their short OCI. All other manufacturers specify an OCI of 20k-40k km.

Volvo changed the recommendation in 2004/2005 in gasoline engines and a bit later on diesels. Up to 2004 Mobil 1 0w-40 is the preferred choice and from 2005 onwards it's Mobil 1 0w-30 FE. I did several hundred oil changes on these back in the quicklube days, no visible difference on the engines...

But the marketing people and some guy on the internet told me that if an oil costs alot of $ it has to be good! Even better if it contains unobtanium and has to be ordered from the other side of the world.
