Well, after all the various opinions and many different suggestions, i think I'll be going with Rotella T4. Either 10W-30 or 15W- 40.
I have used T1 and then T4 in every motorcycle I have owned. Never disappointed.
I know that means nothing in an old car...but I think Rotella fits the purpose...
To answer Chris' question.....Yes, oil filter has been in use.
As far history of what has been used, i can only go one owner back and ask.
And he only put about 500 miles on it in 3 years.
So far, there has been many different recommendations on this forum but no clear consensus.
I will...
What oil would you gents recommend for a 1951 P!ymouth.
It has 53k miles. Motor never opened up.
I live on the NH/ME border. Car will only be run Mid- April thru end of Oct.
Many thanks
Should I have any fears if I want to use Mobil 1 0W-20 oil in a newly acquired 2012
Dodge Avenger 2.4L with 29K miles?
Factory calls for 5W-20 oil.
thanks
Merkava--thanks for the explanation. That makes sense.
So, I'm leaning to Mobil 1 0W-40 now.
I'll be leaving in about a half hour to purchase oil.
Not much love here for Royal Purple...interesting...
Thanks all.....now I am a little confused. The owners manual that came with the truck says 5W-20.
And I am in New Hampshire with winter fast approaching and we will see temps as low as minus 10F.
any further thoughts before I'm off to buy oil.
thanks to you all
Just acquired a 1999 Ford F250 with 96K miles on it. Motor runs strong!
Always had Dino in it. Want to change oil today....would you go to Mobil One 5W-20 or GC 0W-20 or Royal Purple 5W-20?
thanks
