Blackstone's comments:
Universal averages show typical wear metals for an oil from this type of engine after about 5,600 miles on the oil. Your oil was in use about those same miles, and we found all wear reading well below average levels and in the correct balance to show normal mechanical parts inside. Silicon was bit over average, so you could check the air filter. The low insolubles - solids in the oil - shows good oil filtration. This oil had no fuel, moisture, or anti-freeze in it. The TBN read 2.2, so the oil still contained some active additive. Try 6,500 miles next time. Nice engine!

Oil was changed at sampling with AMSOIL XL 5W30 SM and a new OEM oil filter. Oil will probably be run ~7,500 miles next OCI.

However, I don't know why the oil thinned somewhat but still has a good flashpoint.

Decent numbers except for the lead at 5. I would make sure the air filter is changed at no more than 16000 miles. Ditch the oil filter and use Wix.

Amkeer,
Why would he want to ditch the oil filter? I have used Wix on my Pontiac and the insolubles were the same - 0.4. I agree that Wix is a fine filter, but I think the existing filter is doing well. What would you expect a Wix filter to improve?

No additives in gas or oil.

Should I ask for a retest of the viscosity?
