Over sized filters

I am sure this has been kicked around many times before but I am unable to find. Is there a cross reference or other document that tells you that if your OEM filter is XXX that YYY is a larger filter that can be used?

What kind of vehicle do you have, maybe someone has the same car and they can tell you if a larger oil filter is out there.

Pretty much you have to look up the filter spec's yourself. I know of no interchange guide for using larger than OE filters? As the guy ^^^ said what is the application( year, mfg, model, engine, etc... ). I might be able to help or someone else might.

Baldwin filters used to do this in their product guide.

I remember looking in it before in reference to their B2 i was using in my Bronco.
They listed different "versions" of the B2 (FL1A motorcraft).
Such as B34 "short version", BT251 "long version" B253 "racing version".
I think they still do this, but limit the variations now to cover their arses if someone's motor blows up using a "version" of the correct filter.

Trial and error. Problem is with clearance. Not every filter will fit. Liability prevents mfg's from definitely recommending sizes.

Post your year/make/model and filter PN, and you'll find some PN's that might work. And, if you're lucky, you might find some PN's that someone is using and will work.
