I just bought an 07 Duramax and will be heading to Colorado for the week. The temps where we are staying (about 10k elevation) will be in the low 30s and upper 20s each night and mid 60s during the day. I would like to use some sort of additive to prevent any fuel issues - either gelling or if I happen to get some bad diesel. I have searched, but haven't really found much said on here. Any suggestions?

At those temps, you're in no danger of gelling fuel. However, if it makes you feel better pick up a white bottle of Powerservice at Wally World.

The easiest ones to find on short notice would be Power Services white bottle at WM, TSC,and all the auto parts stores. I have also used the Redline additive, called Diesel fuel Catalyst, but not sure that it provides antigel too. The Redline helped tremendously one time when I got some bad fuel, though. If you have a local Schaeffers dealer, get some SoyShield 139A. You can read about it on this thread:

I believe that it has antigel as part of its formula. Also, here is Schaeffer's 139A tech sheet pdf:

Another Schaeffer product to consider is Diesel Treat 2000 with cold flow improver #137AND found here:

Lastly, you could find a local Amsoil dealer before your trip and get some of their diesel fuel treatment and their cold flow improver.
Let me say also, that we have some excellent Schaeffers and Amsoil site sponsors here that would be glad to hook you up with their products, getting you the best prices and service on oil, filters and fuel adds. Since you are leaving on your trip so soon, you may have to find someone to purchase from locally this time.

I picked up some "Diesel fuel supplement" at AutoZone. It is for ULSD and contains the antigel formula. It also is supposed to be useful for water in diesel - and I assume just bad diesel in general.

I also picked up a spare fuel filter, so I think I am good to go.

I'll touch base w/ the Schaeffer stuff when I get back. I hear great things w/ all their products.

Thanks,
JS
