coolant flush yay or nay

Look at your coolant overflow reservoir,,if it is muddy looking, flush it to if you can,,some of that old coolant turns to mud when folks start mixing different brands. The gunk in your reservoir will have to be steamed out or soak in dawn for 2 days,,best to blast it out with hot water if you can...Note, if your reservoir is muddy,,so is the inside of your engine and radiator,,its sticks like glue,,just went thru this myself...had it done at a shop,,

PS, some mechanics say to change your radiator cap once a year,,its up to you imho.

I'd use the citric acid only if there's evidence of silicate dropout or stop leak. I've had luck using dishWASHER detergent to clean up a Ford cooling system with silicate dropout.

How's the water pump though? If you really wanted to take care of PM, change the water pump and t-stat with OEM Subaru pieces as well.

Later-model Subaru boxer-6s don't have timing belts.
