Delvac1 ESP in vw 502 app?

I bought a case of this 5/40 ESP A/R & tax @$11.00 gal. If they'd offer that on a regular basis I'd just go ahead and use it in all my motors then extend the OCI's.

I tend to agree. There's a lot of good 502/505 oils to choose from. You can get one on sale for $5-6/qt any day of the year.
 
Nothing wrong with them, just looking at the possibility of higher saps playing a role in vale deposits. I may roll the dice and just use M1 0w40.

Castrol 0W40 actually has lower SAPS then M1.
However, do not forget that NOACK is very important, and both M1 and Castrol 0W40 have NOACK below 10%.
 
Go to TDI website-they have specific section for people running heavy duty 5w40 oils for 502 specification. The results have been notably better then the standard 502 spec.
