Would this oil be good for a Generac stand-by gen?

Yes it would be fine, but Amsoil makes a perfect small engine oil i think you must have missed it.

Also if you want a cheaper alternative, Mobil 1 High Mileage in 10w30 or 5w30 offers a boosted additive package similar to the Amsoil small engine oil at a fraction of the cost if you buy it in big 5 quart jugs at Walmart...price varies between $22-25 or about $4-5 a quart.

Also if you buy Amsoil contact Pablo, he can give you a discount.

I would use Castrol Edge with Syntec, 0W-30
Otherwise known a German Castrol...

Hard to find...

Use product number 06244 at AutoZone,
does not show up otherwise.
One one store in my area has it...

Yes that small engine oil would be the first choice. But a lot of oils Amsoil carries would work fine, including the ACD you mentioned.

I would stay with a 30wt myself.

I run the Valvoline VR1 Racing 10w30 syn with very good results in my Generac. Other oils (RT5)surprisingly seemed to shear down and cause clacking of the engine when it warms up - and that's in the winter below freezing!

I have been using the Amsoil Formula 4-Stroke 10W-30/SAE 30 Small Engine Oil in my 20K Generac NG generator for two years. Starts great even in extreme cold (so far, mine has seen -9F). Longest my generator has run with a power outage was 5 hours so no extreme test so far.

I change it yearly (probably much more than necessary) and it has not looked dirty at all. The valve train looks pristine under the oil cap.

Thx in advance for any help....

I would use Amsoil 4-Stroke Small Engine Oil. I use it in all my 4 cycle OPE.

Mobil1 5w30HM 10w30HM
Castrol 0w30 Euro
RoyalPurple HPS or HMX
Redline
MPT 30k
Amsoil... problem in 10w30 ACD or ASE, I prefer a 5w30 or 0w30 for winter starts

I'd even consider a 0w40 since most shear into a 30 grade.

Synthetic is a plus for cold starts.

I tend to lean toward HTHS and stout additive packages for smaller engines.

Wager that it'll take any Ford/Toyota/Mopar type 3/4-16 threaded filter.
