I have always been fascinated by the SR-71 and its variants.
After reading this thread,

I spent some time on YouTube. YIKES,

I found this on the M21 and the accident after launch.

The D21 is a very interesting drone.

This was an ill-fated reaction to the Gary Powers U2 shoot down. Not a good example of American Aviation ideas/developement.

I too, like the SR.-71, seeing one in the National Air Space Museum was great! Not a small aircraft.

The Blackbird in the Seattle Museum of Flight (a fantastic museum by the way) is an M-21 variant. Only one left, I think.

The SR-71 Blackbird is my favourite aircraft of all time. I saw one up close at the Hill Aerospace Museum at Hill AFB in Utah in 2002. An SR-72 would be way cool...

Well.....
There is the rumored Aurora aircraft that replaced it. But who knows what is at Area 51 now....
