Shell's GTL technology: A step up from Group III?

This is all interesting but not sure it means all that much in the real world. Whether the Mobil 1 Grp III far exceeded the conventional in a lab test is interesting, but may not mean much out here in the cheap seats. For instance, I took a Cummins N-14 to 1.4 million miles without a major repair, doing 30K OCI's with no bypass filter, all on Kendall 15w40 conventional and Baldwin filters. I am not convinced that a high ticket synthetic would have delivered results substantially better to justify the expense. Might have been able to stretch the OCI's but that is not certain and just academic at this point since I no longer have the truck and motor.

I know Napa at least used to sell PU up here. I think Clevy bought up all the old stock in the province, so unless they aren't carrying the new stuff, there's nothing left.
