My son rear ended another car somewhat lightly. A crack is on the front of the fender and the attachment holes have been broken.
Both fenders are in about the same condition.

My question is how repairable are these. I may can get some gold junkyard fenders, but i can't paint them til probably June. If i get junk yard fenders and use them, i will have to pull them back off in June to properly paint the attachment and crevices.

Can these be repaired cost effectively? i was wondering with the rigid repair material, could i attach thin washers where the holes are broken out? This is off an 01 sc1 saturn. Not a ton of used fenders as this front end was only made for 2 years.

Well, anything you can get to hold and looks ok to you seems like all that is necessary as the Saturn structure is in the steel space frame and the fenders are just for looks.

I bought some black epoxy stuff made for repairing auto parts and I was amazed at the way it hardened and yet it is very light. I used it on a black Thule cargo box but it should work well on on plastic bodywork. Might be good to cement in some washers for those attaching points.

Cost me $8 at AZ for the stuff, can't go wrong to try it. The fenders look ok in the photos so you don't need to paint.

The Astro gun should work fine, it seems made for the small tubes. Just make sure you rough up the surfaces good and use a good clean them, laquer thinner or IPA works well.
On cracks drill a small hole at the ends of the cracks and down the sides of crack so the material can go though like stitching it.

After its all sanded down clean it and use an adhesion promoter like this, available for about $6 at AA or other parts stores.

Then coat with this also available at parts stores.

Do not sand the etching primer just use regular primer filler over it and sand that when dry before top coat.
This works great on all plastic inc flexible bumpers, it really helps with paint adhesion.

When finished with the quick set put it in the fridge otherwise the shelf life is painfully short. Thats why i don't buy the larger tubes, do the whole job at once if you can.
Prep, prep and prep again.

Thanks, fortunately it is plastic so i can get away with not topcoating til warmer weather. ( This is the car i plan to repaint btw).
