This was a project i was inspired to do, by JHZR2's post of his interior doors. When i saw them, i wanted something similar.
The wall was a load bearing wall, so i had to support it and install a header for the opening then finish the sheet rock and floor threshold.
The doors where bifold and i ordered them unfinished with the glass. They were designed to be on a track above the door and fold back on themselves. We did not like that idea so we scrapped the track, cam hinges and disassembled the doors. Stained and polyurethaned the doors and installed the hinges and hardware we liked. Made the trim around the doors and finally got this all together a week before Christmas!
Here are the pics. Thank you to several members who had suggestions on routing the hinges and special thanks to JHZR2 for providing some sample pics of his doors! We like them.

I stained by hand with a brush and cloth. Due to the muntins i decided to use a spray poly for even coverage and to get into the hard to reach areas.

Oh wow those turned out really nicely. Nailed the mortise on those hinges.

That stained casing looks sharp butting the base moulding. Bonus points for fitting crown, too. Yours is a beautiful home.

Excellent workmanship...congratulations!

Man, I really hate your craftsmanship !

I will be very happy to be able to do 1/10 of what you did. If I need to replace or install a new door I have to pay someone to do it, then I will find all faults with installed door(s) some months or years later.

Looks nice. I am getting French doors to replace my slider door. I too have to stain and will go ultra dark walnut with satin spar marine finish for that rubbed effect look. Great pictures.
