The Focus will be getting its oil for the winter in about 400 miles.
The Synpower 10W-30 now in it seems to allow for easy, quiet starts down to the 10F that we saw three mornings this past week, but a twenty might be more appropriate for the colder mornings ahead. Ford did recommend a 5W-20 for this engine in this market.
I have HGMO and TGMO 0W-20, but these are reserved for the '12 Accord.
Twenty grades I have and would use in the Focus include Meijer syn 5W-20, QSUD 0W-20, M1 5W-20, PP 5W-20 and Amsoil SSO 0W-20.
The winter run will be 5-6K.
I'm really leaning toward the Meijer oil, since there are very few UOAs of it out there and a couple of 5-6K runs followed with a UOA might be more interesting than yet another UOA of an oil we've seen many of.
What would you use and why?
