First winter in Sacramento and needing tires

I think you'd be fine on summer tires.
As others have noted, it does snow in the mountains and that AWD Audi would do almost as well in the snow on AS tires as a Subaru would.
It also apparently gets cold enough that even in the absence of snow, summer tires will lose grip.
Consider also that you may not really be saving anything in cost per mile, since a good set of Cooper all seasons will outlast a set of Cooper summers and Cooper tires are usually well priced.
If you're trying for something decent at a low price point, you might also consider Generals.
We've had good results with the Altimax tire on a couple of cars and the replacement RT43 has had very favorable reviews.

Well I'm pulling the trigger in a set of COOPER ZEON rs3 - A

These are all season asymmetric tires with

MADE in the USA by a USA company and when ever I can buy American made (So long as its a good quality/value for my $) I will

OTD for $460 after some shopping around- I'll have to get an alignment ASAP too. Ugg.
