saturn wheel bearing

Replacing the wornout bearings on a 2001 sc1. Pressed the bearing and hub out. The bearing of course separated and i ground the inner race off the hub. There is a slight flat spot on the hub shaft. As long as i smooth it up, is there any reason not to use these and press them in to the new bearings? I already ordered timkin bearings. You can't buy a hub by itself, only a hub with bearings or bearings alone.

I looked online for a solution, and I saw that some really cheap front wheel bearings come with a hub. Maybe throwing out the cheap bearing and keeping the hub would be cost effective.

The more i look at these old hubs, the more i don't want to use them. I may do what you suggested as i definitely want the timkin bearings.

Can you take a picture of the damage? If its only minor you can dress it with crocus cloth and it wont cause any problems.
Make sure to support the inner race when pressing the hub into the new bearing.
 
The last pic looks like the bearing spun and then seized as there is a line around the middle of the hub.

I could not figure out any other way to get it off. The bearing basically separated in both dirctions, the inner race upper half stayed on the inner shoulder of the hub, on the collar was there, nothiing to grip to remove it. The other half of the inner bearing came off with the outer race.
I should have waited to order bearings until i pressed these out. I think i will order a cheaper hubset as artificialist suggested and throw out the cheap bearings for the timkins i have . [img:center][/img]

I wouldn't mess with it, that's a lot of damage. A little nick or scratch okay.
They make a bearing separator you can use for that that job, even a slight cut but not through then hit the race with a chisel.

Good idea getting a cheap hub then just swapping the bearing.
 
I see damage at the large fillet, which is a highly stressed area of the inner forging. I wouldn't reuse it.
 
Got the new hubs, there were much better looking than the old hubs, even where i did'nt grind them! I cooled the bearings and the hubs in the freezer overnight, they pressed in smoothly. I did support the center bearing when pressing in the hub. I wish i had bought the 20 ton press, but even a 12 ton press is really handy when working on cars.
