Does anyone know what the average engine oil filter specifications are pertaining to particle size? I would think it would be stated as maybe 80% of 50 micron or larger particles for example.

And specifically, if anyone knows, what are the specs for the spin-on filter for an Allison 1000 series automatic transmission that GM puts in their HD pickups as an option?

Thanks

I believe the eff. ratings are for 10 microns, 1 micron is 1 millionth of a meter. Most will filter smaller but the eff. multipass rating of 98% for the PUREONE means for 10 microns particles.

This question has been asked and answered many times before. I should remember all the values-but I don't. You can search or wait for someone with a better memory than mine.

Not to be anal, but there are 1000 microns to a millimeter.

True, but a bunch of 50 micron particles going through your engine can do some SERIOUS damage too.
