I was wondering what the different ratings for grease mean?
I think I'm suppose to use an LB rated grease for my truck, is this correct? Is there any other rating the grease needs to meet?

I just started to use Schaeffers 221#2 for the truck, is this LB rated?
Thanks for the input!

(Condensed from Lubricating Grease Guide)
The NLGI(National Lubricating Grease Institute) specication for automotive service greases came into being in 1989. L designates chassis,G designates wheel bearings.

LA-Frequent lubrication/mild duty with oxidation resistance, shear stable, and corrosian and wear protection

LB-Longer relubrication interval, severe duty(protection under heavier loads and the presence of water)-40 to 120*C

GA-Frequent relubrication,mild duty -20 to 70*C

GB-Mild to moderate duty with oxidation and evaperation resistance while protecting from corrosion and wear. -40 to 120*C/160*C occasionally

GC-Mild to severe duty with frequent temps. to 160*C and occasionally to 200*C

Here is page with a chart describing the Automotive Grease Specifications

I use the #221 in our farm equiptment and vehicles and and and more than happy with it.

I've wondered this myself, the only reason I can think of is that their market is mostly commercial, trucking, etc. and it wouldn't serv much purpose for them.
