Purchased four wheels form a guy for the bug. One had really bad grime and brake dust build up. I tried to get it off with Black Magic wheel cleaner. It wont come off. What would you recomend I do? Thanx

wd40 or penetrating oil might soften it up, then go at it with acetone, but work outside with the acetone.
Brake cleaner. Acetone will wilt the paint.
Some brake cleaners will do in paint, too!

Are they chrome or paint ?? .... I would sand and repaint before installing
They are metal flake paint i think. I also have another problem. While scrubbing i took off a layer of paint in two sections. Can i just tape around these sections, hit them with dupli wheel paint silver, and then clear coat the whole wheel? It only this wheel that being stubborn. The others where fine. And if I buy some 3M brake cleaner, do you think it will take off the remaining gunk? Thanx. I appreciate the responses.
