yeah; I can't open it. (PC says "unknown program" or some [censored]).
which program do I need to open a document with this extention?
(DOC.X)

and where can I get it?
Thanks a lot.

.DOCX is the default file extension/format for Microsoft Word 2007. If you have a prior version of Word, you can install Microsoft's compatibility update HERE.

oh and before i asked here, I clicked properties of that DOCx file and changed the "opens with" to MS word (which didn't do it anyway). now it always tries to open with word, but can't. i want it to be just like before, so I can use the MS converter pack update....
How can I undo that? will file converter pack still work like normal?

It worked !!! Thanks guys!
(after installing the "Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats")

If you wish to inspect a .DOCX, .XLSX, or .PPTX, using 7-zip or any other unzipping program to unzip the contents into it's own folder. There's an XML file and any embedded images/videos & such.
