ZF 8 speed got some competition?

Toyota just launched their gazroo racing LBX with a new powertrain. Not a product NADM will get anytime soon, but they did a comparo with three transmissions, their current aisin 8 speed, their GR SUPRA 8 Speed, and this new 8DAT, and shifting lag, and rotation speeds are on par or better with the legendary ZF 8.

I welcome the adaption of this a/t to the market. Tired of the clunky aisin 8 Speed.

I am hoping that someday maybe Haltech or Holley EFI could bring out support for the ZF8. A ZF8, behind a turbo LSx would be a sweet combination.

This is not new news. Toyota announced the 8 and 10 speed direct-shift transmissions (8DAT and 10DAT) 7 years ago.

i sure do hope they will put this in the Corolla GR very soon. the Yaris GR in Europe has increased to 300hp and got this transmission for 2024.

I'm pretty happy with the Mercedes 9G-Tronic in my C43. It compares well with the 8HP that was in my 2014 M235i. If anything it's a bit more aggressive in Sport+ mode as compared to the 2er- and I like it that way.
