Stopped at the local NAPA store today to pick up something or other, and wandered into the oil section, naturally.

I saw Wolfs Head 15-40 "Semi-Synthetic", and thought "hey, that's neat", then, when I asked them the price, they came back with "$2.37/qt". I about fell over.

It has the CJ-4/SM rating on there and everything, but that price sure seemed awfully low.

What say ye?

Wolf's Head is a brand name that belongs to Amalie Oil Co. I don't know if it is any good or not. Some oil blenders mix low quality conventional oil with low quality Group III, market it as a syn-blend, and hope the public thinks they are getting something special.

I have never used Wolf's Head in my 2002 F350 7.3 PSD, but was talking to a guy who had a Dodge 2500 Cummins Diesel that was pushing some serious HP a few years back. He said he was running the Wolf's Head 15w40 without any issues. That is a good price @ 2.37 per quart, double check the rating to be sure.

Wolfs Head is a good quality oil made by Amalie.
May not be the best, but decent stuff for sure.
At that price, I would buy everything they have in the store!
