Maybe this will get you guys reading. He patented catalytic refining, making 71-100 octane gas easily when others were making 60 octane and allowing much more complete use of crude that distilling did.
I will admit I never heard of him till I pickedup a copy of the winter 2005 American Heritage of Invention and Technology magazine, there is an article on page 36 called "The wizard of octane", same issue has an article on EEA AirVenture the biggest air show in the world held just 40 minutes from my front door.
