Wavy media

I have a stupid question to ask.What does wavy media hurt??

Nothing.

If it's severe enough where pleats collapse or fall completely over, I'd be concerned, but otherwise it's just a cosmetic issue.

Then why do some people here get so upset when a cut open filter is shown with wavy media ??As long as it is doing its job and filtering it should be ok.

Im talking oil filters,not classic art.The filter is about the cheapest part you will put on your engine and you want perfection ??

Some say that wavy media means coolant in the oil.

Not a stupid question at all. It doesn't seem to hurt anything, but it indicated that the media has swollen from absorbing moisture. It could be coolant in the oil, but more likely moisture from condensation from short, cold trips.
