Can someone tell me where I can even find the Max-LIfe full synthetic in the Chicago area? Does anyone know if it's available in anything that meets th VW 502.00 spec? Thanks

One interesting thing about these Maxlife Synthetic oils is the relatively high moly content (280 PPM) compared to most other synthetic oils. The other thing is the low TBN. They were going with the lower SAPS approach prior to the latest reformulation but now Sulfated Ash is up to 1.1% which is higher than normal.

The latest 5 quart jugs at Walmart have only ACEA A1 listed on them. The 1 quart bottles still have A3. The jugs were newer so I'm wondering if they are downgrading this latest formula.

I have 3 different formulas of Valvoline synthetic right now, with the following spec.

MaxLife 5w30 Full Synthetic A3 rated only(5qt.)
Synpower 5w30 A1/A5
Synpower 20w50 A3/B4 rated
