Shucks, must be CAFE reaching beyond the borders. I look forward to seeing a US recomendation .
I spent most of the previous month in Costa Rica. Couldn't find anything less than a SAE 50 viscosity oil at petrol stations, and Castrol was aggressively marketing a 25W-60 "High Mileage" motor oil to motorists.
Of course, pretty much every gasser in the country burned oil. Even 2-year old Toyotas and Hyundai's burned oil. I don't know if it was because of the use of an innappropriate grade, or improper maintenance, or simply the driving style, but the amount of oil burned by the local fleets, put into the air as pollution, was absolutely staggering.
