I understand in the Auto-Rx FAQ that I don't need to use new oil when I begin the cleaning stage, but would it help out in any way? Since the oil would be fresh, would it make it easier for the Auto-Rx to do its job?

Since the oil won't be in there for more than 1500 miles, I'm planning on using the cheapest dino oil I can find. I currently have a mix of Mobil 1 (1.5 qts) and GC (2 qts) in the engine now with about 2000 miles on them. Any advice would be appreciated.

I'd wait until after your normal OCI on your current fill, then use the ARX with dino. No sense in "wasting" good syn, and ARX works better with dino.

I swapped to cheap dino, waited 500 miles, then added ARX for a total OCI of 2000 miles just to keep it round.

Don't forget the fresh filter.

I would say yes to new oil, if you don't know the level of contimination that exist in the motor. For sure if there are signs of heavy deposits. If you are doing a period 25K cleaning, then I would say to you can use the back end of an oil change, within reason.
