My grease gun had grease leaking everywhere the other day when I was cleaning out the shed. I have a tube of Castrol synthetic #2 lithium soap (light blue color) in there.

Now, it was very hot that day, but should grease melt and run at 100F? I don't remember experiencing this before with other brands.

That's oil separation. If it's a problem you might consider trying a grease with a better oil speration rating.

Most (not ALL) greases show oil separation when the gun's plunger is under spring pressure. It's normal to a certain extent. Some say you should pull the plunger out to relieve pressure during storage.

Now.....you people endorsing the boutique greases that never separate can chime in.

some grease will bleed a few percent oil that is normal. But a total "melt' like butter on a hot day NO that would/could be due to other soap types of grease mixing with whatever you have now.
