SAE50 transmission fluid question

At this point is a curiosity thing. Is it the same as SAE50 motor oil?

I have a case of SAE50 Chevron Delo manual transmission for big rigs. Wondering if I could use that in my bmw R1100gs m97 transmission or even the oilhead engine. On Castrol website it mentions SAE50 isn't strictly for transmission with copper parts.

Thanks

SAE 50 automotive engine oil is about the same viscosity range as 90w gear oil. This stuff is not the same as 50 weight engine oil, though.

I would NOT use this as an engine oil as it will not have an appropriate anti-wear additive package. The main specification given for this oil by Chevron is MT-1 which is for non-synchronized big-rig and heavy equipment transmissions. The MT-1 oil won't have the high pressure additives that a GL5 oil that is called for by BMW for the final drive either.
