Reducing side-view mirror blind spots

Been using them since I found them 15 or so years ago. I put them on everything I own. I use them for backing up too and I can put my truck into a compact car parking space using them (up until I fold the mirrors in!).

They sometimes wear a bit and need replacement every so many years.
 
I place the mirrors at the same location as Bill has his. I never liked putting them on the "inside" (closest to the vehicle) section of the mirror.

I believe I have 1.5-2" on the Honda and 2.5-3" on the truck (can't remember exactly).
