Every few years their are reports of a new cause for the problem. About 10 years ago brake dust was a cause.
And probably still is. Brake dust is nasty stuff.

Based on anything they feel like. $5 a tire Salmon tax or better yet the old classic "its for the children".Based on what, tire company listed tread wear? We’d be seeing a lot of 800 rated UHP summer tires soon after!
I wonder if that would end up being a double-edged sword. You either pay a higher tax for a non-exempt tire or pay more for a manufacture’s “premium” tax-exempt offering. I wonder how they’ll handle used tires.maybe not a tyre tax, but a tax on certain types of cars... EVs use more tyres, full size pick ups etc, hypercars etc... this is what's being whispered through the euro grapevines for a while now and is one of the reasons tax exemptions for EV is being questioned. It doesn't make sense to tax a safety item like tyres themselves as you want people to change them in due time
The crooks will find a way to pull a raid on your wallet. Politicians and ambulance chasers (and a few others) will need to be screwed into the ground when they die so they don't pop back up.I wonder if that would end up being a double-edged sword. But yet we never see it??????? I've always wondered where the tire dust went. You never see it anywhere. The only rubber I've seen is at race tracks.

Maybe the tire companies will find a non-poisonous substitute additive, like industry did with CFCs, asbestos, and tetra-ethyl lead.
Ricjshaws, people manure.I was going to say blacksmiths also but the horse manure contributes toglobal warmingclimate change. I am thinking rickshaws.

Ditto. I always wondered why we didn’t see it.down the drains and into the ground apparently. And into lungs aswell
And that is exactly why copper is being removed from brake friction material.Every few years their are reports of a new cause for the problem. About 10 years ago brake dust was a cause.
