Knowing how well penn ultra has done and M1 ep AS WELL. Which one of the two would provide nice timing chain protection, in addition to overall good performance in a chevy 5.3 v8, and or a ford 4.0 v6 OHV. Thanks!!

AFAIK the Ford 4.0 timing chain failures were a material issue.
I'm not sure any oil can make up for that to any great degree.
Personally i think both these oils would perform very well in either engine.

Not enough info. You could use Supertech conventional - but not enough service info. In the past certain synthetic stocks have been know to damage certain poylmer T chain guides (after BMW ...) So syn is not necessarily "BETTER" because it costs more.

Honestly, it's not enough info. But if I had to simply guess, I'd got with M1 EP based purely on the fact that it's the one one of them that's advertised as an extended drain oil. ...Yeah, that's completely unscientific.
