The province was very excited to hear the announcement by BWXT that they are going to spend $80 million expanding their Cambridge plant. BWXT produces the steam generators (boilers) for our nuclear plants as well as numerous other components and are slated to manufacture the reactor vessel for the BWR SMR's being constructed at Darlington B.

They will have likely just received the order for 48 steam generators for the Pickering B refurbishment, which may be a factor in this investment decision.

It's good to hear that Canada is supporting nuclear manufacturing. Last I had checked, admittedly several years ago, the US had reduced its nuclear manufacturing capabilities enough to require foreign assistance to build a large commercial reactor.

Yup, IIRC, they don't have the heavy forging capacity (the US) to make nuclear pressure vessels anymore, so they are manufactured in Korea.
