Kern Oil, the last remaining supplier, has discontinued production of 80 octane (red) avgas. My question is does it matter? Are there any engines out there that cannot run on 100LL or mogas?

Very few airports had 80 to begin with and 87 octane unleaded mogas should be fine for the low-altitude flying of antique aircraft.

my Cessna 180 is a classic but not an antique, I routinely fly to 17,000 feet on autofuel, have never had vapor lock in over 1800 hours of flying in this airplane. I run 100 LL once every 25 hours, use Avblend and Philps 20W50, use less then 1 qt every 25 hours and the wear metals on my oil reports are outstanding. So much for the fears of autofuel. When I fly lsess in the winter I fill the tanks with 100 LL, I think it stores better. Original bladders still perfect (this is a 1956 model, 0470 K engine, factory reman with 650 hours on the clock)
