Need advice for a trip to Sarasota (right on time for a hurricane)

Yeah, I was wrong. It's gaining steam alright. But if it hits where predicted, that's about as good of a place they could ask for. There aren't any large cities in that path. (The southwest corner between the panhandle and the peninsula).

There isn't much between Cedar Key and Crawfordville...... IF that's where it hits.
 
This morning they were calling it a Cat4. I looked on my aviation app and the winds at 4 positions around the eye were 67, 65, 55, 60Kts.

Sorry, but I'm tired of the sensationalism.

Now it looks like it is a tropical storm. People need to understand that even a TS is damaging and can bring storm surge.
