Sort of.
People don't understand the US uses AKI which is (RON+MON)/2
So our 87 AKI is on par with European (and others) who indicate 91/92 octane fuel.
It's analogous to Miles vs Kilometers. We measure in miles in the US. Most of the rest of the world uses kilometers. You get different numbers that ultimately reflect the same thing.
