My father's tractor has the jimmy legs

So what did he break? Is is a craftsman tractor, I will get the model number.

Atleast this one has a decent cast iron front axle.

Could be a bent steering arm on either front spindle, loose ball joint or the whole steering gearbox is stripped out or broke.

I sheared the steering gearbox shaft on my Cub Cadet 2544 causing the front wheels to go all shopping cart on me :0

OK, I have to ask...is "Jimmy-legs" a reference to Jimmy Valmer from South Park?

The freewheeling steering wheel should have been my first clue not to try to drive it! LOL..

The breakage was totally my fault as I reefed on the steering wheel trying to get the machine out of a deep rut one front tire fell into..

Luckily steering components are pretty easy to remove and replace on these. Sears or otherwise.
