Mod to $10 tach

I was looking for a non contact tach . I have one of the eBay ones but wrapping around the wire was a pain.

I noticed the new ones just like this offer it with a alligator clip . Hmm

So I found a alligator clip ,cut the wire and crimped the wire to it.

Tested it this morning . Clipped to plug wire and was surprised it worked. The reading were just where it had set them before . Use it to tune my trimmer and set the rpm on my mower .

No longer need a new tach

Some of those have Hour Meter functions built in, so it really is FAR better than the old tach.

I really should have one of those. I set my rpms by listening to the mower which has the new motor and "tune" it by ear. I'm assuming its rpms are set right, though.
