Ford refuses any warranty claims when using extending oil change intervals with the MicroGreen oil filter. MicroGreen refuses to accept any liability for a blown engine that was on the MicroGreen oil filter program. Don't do it. They have a great sales pitch, but run the other way when something goes wrong.

Hmm interesting... Did you read this somewhere or from experience?? If read somewhere, a link to the source would be appreciated! Or more details!

By the way, WELCOME to BITOG!!!

NEVER do extended oil change intervals while a car is under warranty! Always change the oil on time and use the recommended weight in order to cover your a**.

Does Ford warranty ANY extended oil change interval during the warranty period, with or without UOA?

If the buyer strays with oil maintenance, its the owners' fault if there are any failures. Don't blame Ford. Do blame any product manufacturer for recommending something 'blindly'.

As deviation from the OE recommended schedule will require UOAs to verify the ability. All those short-tripper soccer-moms will never get a good extended OCI.

2nd issue is the dipstick which is often neglected. Can't blame Ford or Microgreen if you run out of oil.

Undummy got it right.

If your engine is still under warranty when you install the so-called Microgreen filter and got into trouble, chances are, your ability to file for a lawsuit to get Ford to fix it is, IMHO very slim.

Sorry that you got into this. It just proves my point many times over that always rigidly abide by factory recommended servicing and OCI during warranty period. Only experiment it at your own discretion when you are out of the warranty period.

Q.

I have no problem experimenting on a brand new car under warranty. I do have a problem with those that do it without any common sense.

You could tell from their advertising pitch that they were sleazy. Run from anyone that says their oil filter will increase your gas mileage because it does such a good job of filtering. They never provided any UOA comparisons to support their claims.

It's amazing how we complicate a thing as simple as regular maintenance.

While under warranty I would agree that following the service schedule is the way to go. And we don't need magic green filters, or special super oil to get the job done.

Sorry you ran into trouble! If you *must* extend your intervals partner with Amsoil, do UOAs, and follow their warranty requirements to the letter.

By the way, could you give us a little more description on how and when the engine failed, did you find sludge in it, how many miles and what oil change intervals where you running?

Suppose it's too late to do a UOA? Might help you with a claim against the filter company or Ford.
