Manufacturer already says 6 months / 5000 miles on syn blend, so I'm stopping at 1 year for safety.

I also got my oil stash very cheap - free or a $ a quart. I don't change it myself and at the year mark there is also something else to do. So I take it to my mechanic who gets it up on the lift and does a good inspection at the same time as well as changing some other fluids I don't want to handle.

Btw, I go to one year, rather than 5k. Mileage can be more. My driving patterns are not fixed these days.

BlueOvalFitter was concerned that his MS5K was turning dark after 1200 or so miles. The pictures of the oil spots are from the 8285 OC for him to compare to his.

2010_FX4, thanks very much for the pix. The filter with 8285 miles looks just as good as the lower-mileage one. This just reinforces my decision to stick with MC filters for the Ford "fleet" I maintain for family and friends.
