Starting is normally intermittent duty but several FZJ80 users have had their starters continue to run after the key is released leading to a fire as the cable and starter overheat, a starter running until the battery is depleated or the starter melts would be continuous duty

That 2KW figure comes from a Toyota manual; there was a 1.4KW and 2.2KW available in other years, also mentioned above a winch can draw 450A for a short period

You are right I could likely get away with smaller cable for the majority of situations but if I have to make cables I would like them to handle whatever may be thrown at them
