A buddy of mine has no Internet. He is looking for some big magnets, strong enough to pick up 10 pounds or so. I have an old fishermen's magnet and he would like something similar, with a ring where you can affix a rope to it. Any of you guys got any ideas as to where he can get them? He says the ones at Harbor Freight are not suitable. Thanks.

Like this? The magnet is the size of a quarter and that piece of rail is 35lbs.

These guys sell all shapes and sizes.

Some of them are dangerous, read the description on this one: http://www.gaussboys.com/ndfeb-magnets/D7626.html

KJ Magnetics, nice people. I've met them and done work for them. They gave me a few and they are dangerous. I use them to hold sheet metal while I'm working on it.

x2 I extracted a couple of magnets from a dead hard drive, very powerful. It wasn't safe to pry them apart, to get them apart safely, you had so slide them apart, and that took quite a bit of effort.
