It's kind of weird, 235s shouldn't look stretched on an 8" rim but in the TL's case they do. It might just be the factory all seasons. The 255s look like they came factory on the car. I would've gone with a 245 but if I got a 40 series it would be too short and if I got a 45 it would look taller than factory. You're right though about the noise. The first couple thousand were quiet and the more miles I put on, the louder they get. I've gone so far as to Dynamat the whole car with little success.
Nice Bimmer! If those are 235s on an 8" rim, they look much better than the TL's factory setup.
Here's my dad's daily driver. 275 on a stock 8" rim. No uneven wear but I think the 60 series sidewall is a lot more forgiving of mismatched rim/tire combos.
