Kendall GT-1- a simple oil question

I emailed Kendall an oil question. "What group is your synthetic motor oil? Group 3 or 4?"

Here was their reply.

"The base oils used in the formulation of our products is proprietary information that I am not allowed to share outside the company.

Is this normal?

I was just interested but do they have some super secret formula? Thought I was an oil spy trying to get their chemical mix? Great customer service!

Kendall's full synthetic is GroupIII.

They should have been able to at least say a mixture of Groups III and IV, if they had to camoflage their answer. There is nothing proprietary about that information.
