Bought a 2023 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon. No longer have my 08 JKU. I'm a ways out from needing to do anything fluid wise to it. However, I really want to run the best in it even if it might be a little overkill. I'm looking at either Redline or Royal Purple. I do know the 850RE requires the Mopar 8 and 9 speed fluid especially if you ever have any warranty issues. It's sat on the lot since July and I've only put a few hundred miles on it. What mileage would you change out the motor oil and gear oil to get the intial break in metals out?

Some pictures.

35s ?

Nice stance. And great color choice.

Heated seats and wheel? remote start?

I would change oil and filter the first 1000 miles, then at every 5k if it were my Gladiator.

your gear (transmission ) oil you probably will not need change for a long time,,myself redline or Royal purple are fine oils to use, change out around 3-4k ,then 5-7k with a fram ultra or wix xp filter,or go the Amsoil oil and filter route would be my first choice of all

Nothing special about an amsoil filter. Just an expensive champion labs filter.

Thanks. 33s. It has heated seats, wheel, mirrors and remote start. Only things I lack are Fox shocks, bed cover and hitch.

How does the Valvoline extended performance compare to API Royal Purple in wear and detergency?

You should have Fox shocks - my Gladiator Rubicon does. They come only on Rubicon and Mojave but Mojave gets a double shock version. Best of luck with your new Gladiator - love mine and so far 54k trouble free miles. I got every option including the side blind zone, long range radar, leather, remote switches, body colored roof and flares etc - everything but the blue tooth speaker lol - everything works as new. I run either QS Syn or Mobil 1 syn at around 5-6k miles and i run 5w/30 just as I do in my Grand Cherokee 3.6 with 162k trouble free miles. I don't feel you need anything better than Mobil 1/QS/Pennzoil full syns at a decent change interval and i do strongly recommend 5w/30. I have 35's on mine and barely get 16mpg with a 60/40 hwy/city mix. What are you getting with the standard 33's?

I went 2500 miles until my first oil change on my Gladiator and at that time also went to 5w/30 full Syn. I was planning on doing my diffs, transfer case and transmission at the 50k mark and every 50k thereafter but I haven't had time yet but will this week before I hit 55k.

I bought my Caravan it was on lot for awhile so I went by build date. On transmission fluid I did 30k for first one. It needed both of them done.

So I had a 08 3.8L Jeep that recommended 5w-20. I did use 5w-30 because it seem to stop my oil consumption issues and the motor ran far better on it. Not to mention the 3.8L was originally spec'd on 10w-30 back in 1991. With going with a 5w-30 in the 3.6L I don't want to get into a situation where it does more harm than good being this engine has VVT and far tighter tolerances than any previous Jeep Wrangler motor. Has anyone gotten any information that it's safe longterm to use 5w-30? I want to rule out any issues if the motor were to have problems before the warranty runs out and the dealer can say you were not using the proper viscosity and void the claim to fix it. Anyone talk to any Jeep engineers on it?
