Is this an end link thread adapter?

I have bought adjustable end links with an M10 thread.

Is the part I have encircled in a red circle on the right in the photo, an adapter for cars that have a thread size different than M10? Is it OK to omit installing it if the OE end links have an M10 thread?

I just got a reply from the manufacturer. Indeed it is an adapter as I had hypothesized. It changes the size from M10 to M12.

That seems to bear on very little thread; a few turns on each end of the adapter. Maybe it is the angle of the picture.

It fills the gap if the part it is attached to has a 12mm hole instead of 10.

Ahhh...that is what I thought but the angle of the pic made the threads look different diameters in and out of the bushing which I thought was odd....I need new glasses!
