I believe my Compaq D330 calls for a CR2032 motherboard Cmos battery. Can I use an alkaline CR2032 or does it have to be Lithium. TIA.

AFAIK, if the original was lithium, you need a new lithium one. FWIW, be warned that the PSUs on those machines are somewhat failure prone.
You don't absolutely need another lithium one, but because of the slow drain these batteries see in service it's better to use one. It's actually pretty hard to find a CR2032 that isn't lithium.
