Henry Weinhard's Root Beer

Does it still contain Sassafras? My favorite from back in the day was Hi-Q root beer in bottle. Had the A&W stand too.

Sassafras was banned when they found out that safrole caused liver cancer. Caramel.coloring, commonly used as a coloring and flavoring agent in soda like Coca Cola, in alcohol, and in baked goods, has been know to be a carcinogenic cytotoxin for years and is still legal. I have seen warning labels regarding E150 on drinks abroad.

I bought a six pack of Weinhard's from BevMo yesterday. I opened one this afternoon. Same thing as the previous source. I guess they're just not the same as I remember. It still tastes good, the fizz on your tongue just doesn't have that "sting" to it.

The best root beer is an ice cold Moxie.

Moxie isn't root beer.

Sassafras grows all over around here. Got one in the back yard. Good tree to plant where you want it to spread and clump together as it does so though the roots mainly. Pretty tree in spring and fall too.
