Hi, my name is Masaki. I'm in this forum, I request some help, because I want to change the oil type in my car, I have a ford taurus SW vulcan engine 3.0 V6 1988, (108987Km yes 108987Km not more) my father usually put Shell Helix 25W-50 (mineral) in this car, but I think is a heavy oil for this engine, I have read that this engine use 5W-30 SAE SG (original manual from a friend) and I have read in tauruscarclub of america that ford change the oil recomendation for some vehicles (1991 - today) to use 5w-20

so now i'm not sure what to use, I have the followinf option.

Castrol Magnatec (synth) 5W-30 SAE SL
Helaion Synthethic (Synth) 5W-40 SAE SM (repsol)
Motorcraft (Synth) 5w-20 SAE SL

consider in my country (Lima peru) all year range of temperature:
15ºC - 32ºC

Assuming there is no major difference in your taurus than one here in the states, you probably would be fine with any of the three you mentioned.

Use the heavier is for sure. That engine is not speced for 5w-20 and your temp. range is very warm. So I would use at least the 5w-40.
