Planning to pick up an oil filter or 2 for 2021; I'll bring it and whatever oil I choose to my regular mechanic, and he can change the oil while he's doing one of the other services I need this month. I've used Wix filters on the Park Avenue and earlier on my Mercedes, and they seem solid and are well thought of here. Rock Auto and the Wix site both list the WL10255 as the standard filter for my LaCrosse with the 3.6L LFX engine, and also the WL-10255XP for the high-performance. I plan a 6-month, 4500-5000 mile OCI as usual, probably about 70% city driving, mostly in weather that makes tropical tree frogs hop for the A/C controls.
Is there any major reason to go with the high-performance unit for a short OCI?
Second, out of curiosity, Walmart has both of these available online. But their pic of the regular filter is of a much shorter Pro-Tec model. Is that a mistake on their part? The RockAuto and Wix sites show a very similar black canister for both.
