Off of a friends pickup truck. Truck is 2014 F-150 with 5.0 v-8. Oil was Quaker State ultimate durability also. It was in and on vehicle over 1 year and I think he said it had 4,2xx miles on them. Put a tough guard 10575 and some QSUD 5w30 in old jug style he snagged cheap. The black stuff on ADBV is dirt, not slits or torn.

Enjoy the pics

I have a FL-400S from January 2016 production code to use. Think I'll only go 4,500~ on the filter. Then back to FRAM Pro Synthetics.

Don't know what ford/Motorcraft is trying to prove jacking around with louvers and their shenninagans

I was trying to see threads disfussing cutout filters in several threads, including those saying that its media was TORN, from the OP, but end up with most of them with all the photos deleted!
Where are the files documenting the trouble ones mentioned?

No fun.

Seemed the FL-500S wasn't one of the tearing offenders ... but guess that's not the case.

None of them has photos

Exception a Torn Motorcraft, too

What happened to the others? I'm curious to see all the torn medias, but no avail.

I call [censored] since a hole that size passing oil at operating pressure would look a lot different that that.

The hole is right where the pleat fans out and is very weak. I wonder if anyone has sent this info to Motorcraft or Ford? They should make some kind of statement as they are a quality oriented company. Definitely a fail, and there are likely many out there in use failed right now.
